Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Skrynia handles personal data for the landing page, private beta, and app.

Local-first by design: the core finance ledger is stored on your device unless a feature clearly requires backend processing.

Effective date: July 13, 2026

1. Who We Are

Skrynia is a local-first budgeting app built specifically for families. Skrynia helps users track everyday money decisions and organize money by purpose.

Controller: Skrynia Team. If Skrynia is later operated by a registered legal entity, this policy will be updated to identify that entity.

2. Local-First Storage

Skrynia is designed so the core finance ledger lives on your device. Transactions, categories, funds, spenders, settings, and notes entered in the app are stored locally unless a feature clearly requires communication with a server.

We do not use advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, Firebase, or cloud sync in the current MVP.

3. Data We May Process

Data stored locally on your device

  • Transactions and transaction notes.
  • Amounts, dates, currencies, types, categories, and funds.
  • Spenders and app settings such as default currency.

Data you send by email

  • Your email address when you request beta access or support.
  • Any content you choose to include in your message.

Bank connection data, if enabled

  • Connection status and identifiers returned by the provider.
  • Account and transaction data needed to show an import preview.
  • Technical request data needed to operate the connection flow.

Skrynia does not ask you to type bank passwords into Skrynia. Bank authorization happens through the bank or open banking provider flow.

Technical data

  • Basic server logs for the landing page and backend.
  • IP address, user agent, timestamps, and request metadata.
  • Operational logs needed for security, debugging, and reliability.

4. Why We Process Data

  • To provide app functionality.
  • To respond to beta requests and support emails.
  • To operate optional bank connection and import features.
  • To protect the service, troubleshoot issues, and prevent abuse.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

5. Legal Bases

For users in the European Economic Area, our legal bases may include:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide requested app functionality.
  • Consent: where you choose to request beta access, contact us, or connect a bank.
  • Legitimate interests: to secure, debug, and improve the service in a privacy-conscious way.
  • Legal obligation: where we must comply with applicable law.

6. Processors And Recipients

Current or expected service providers include:

  • Cloudflare for DNS, landing page hosting, and email routing.
  • Google Cloud for the private MVP bank integration backend.
  • Salt Edge for optional open banking connection exploration.
  • Apple for App Store/TestFlight distribution.
  • The email provider used to receive support and beta messages.

We do not sell personal data and do not use personal data for third-party advertising.

7. Retention

  • Local app data stays on your device until you delete it.
  • Beta/support emails are retained as long as needed to respond and manage the beta.
  • Backend logs are kept only as long as needed for operations and security.
  • Bank connection data is retained only as needed to provide the connection/import feature or until deletion is requested, subject to provider constraints.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, including if you are in the European Economic Area, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data. You can contact us at [email protected].

Because the core ledger is local-first, much of your app data can be deleted directly on your device by resetting or deleting local data.

9. Children

Skrynia is not intended for children. The app is intended for adults managing personal or household finances.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy as Skrynia evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page.

11. Supervisory Authority

If you are in the European Economic Area and believe your privacy rights have been violated, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue.

12. App Store Privacy Notes

Apple requires developers to describe data collection practices in App Store Connect. Data processed only on device is treated differently from data transmitted off device. Skrynia's App Store privacy answers should be kept aligned with this policy.
